Ukraine said on Thursday that he had signed the basis of a mineral agreement with the United States, although details of the scheme agreement should not yet be announced.
Yulia Svyrydenko, Ukraine’s Minister of Economic Development, said that both parties had signed a « memorandum of intent » which was the basis of an agreement that is likely to see Ukraine and the United States jointly develop the country’s natural resources.
« We are pleased to announce the signature, with our North -American partners, of a memorandum of intent, which opens the way to an economic collaboration agreement and the establishment of the investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, » Svyrydenko published on the X social media platform.
« There are many things to do, but the current pace and significant progress give reasons to wait for the document to be very beneficial for the two countries, » he added.
Svyrydenko, who is also the vice -first minister of Ukraine, did not give any more detailed detail on the content of the scheme agreement, but published images of her and the Secretary of the United States Treasury, Scott Bessent, allegedly signing the agreement.

Earlier on Thursday, United States President Donald Trump and Bessent had told journalists that a comprehensive agreement would be signed next week.
« Well, we have a mineral agreement, which I suppose will be signed on Thursday next Thursday (April 24)? Soon. And I suppose (Ukraine) will be up to the agreement, so we will see it. But we have an agreement on this, » Trump said in a press conference at the White House on Thursday.
Bessent added that « we are still working on the details. We are shooting around April 26. »
Asked about more details, the Treasury Secretary said that the agreement was « substantially what we agreed earlier (with Ukraine) … We went directly to the Great Agreement, I think it is an 80 -page agreement and this is what will be signed. »
CNBC has asked the White House more details about the agreement and awaits an answer.
Trump has coveted a mineral agreement with Ukraine since its inauguration in January, saying an agreement To develop and obtain joint revenue from Ukraine deposits of rare lands, critical minerals, oil, gas and other natural resources would act effectively, as a compensation for North -American aid to Ukraine throughout the war with Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said on Thursday that an agreement had been reached, telling journalists: « This is a memorandum of intentions. And we have positive and constructive intentions, » Reuters reported.
He added that the offer to sign the Memorandum before the integral agreement, which would require the Ukrainian Parliament to ratify it, had come from the United States side, noted the news agency.
