A 29 -year -old Japanese bus driver lost his retirement package of $ 84,000 after being fired to steal $ 7 from passenger rates.
The city of Kyoto sacked the man, who was not named, after he was filmed by the security camera of his bus that piloted 1,000 yen ($ 7) by 2022.
After he was denied retirement money of more than 12 million Yen ($ 84,000), the driver sued the city, but lost the case.
The verdict was annulled in his favor, with a court ruling that the punishment was excessive.
But on Thursday, the Supreme Court passed a final sentence in favor of the city, reinstating the original penalty.
He ruled that man’s behavior could undermine public confidence in the system and the sound operation of the bus service.
In the original incident, a group of five passengers entered the bus and paid 1,150 Yen, according to the sentence.
According to the Mainichi newspaperIn February 2022, the 58-year-old driver took a bill of 1,000 yen received from a passenger instead of putting it on the rate processing machine. The robbery was discovered when the Kyoto Municipal Transport Office saw the incident in the Dashcam images of the bus, the dam reported.
Despite being trapped on the camera, he tried to deny it during a meeting with his superior.
According to the ruling, the driver had been repressed several times during his career by various incidents.
This included smoking an electronic cigarette repeatedly while in service, although when there was no passengers on board.

The city of Kyoto greeted the decision.
« Each of the bus drivers works alone and manages public money. We took us very seriously that the embezzlement related to this area of our work took place, » he told Afp Shinichi Hirai, an official at the Kyoto Public Transport Office.
« If our strict measures were not accepted, our organization could be neglected and could lead to eroding the confidence of the public, » he said.
