After almost 100 days drift, a 61 -year -old Peruvian fisherman was rescued from the Pacific Ocean, after having survived rainwater and eating.
On December 7, Maximo Napa Castro began what was supposedly a two -week solo fishing trip from Marcona, a city on the southern coast of Peru. Around 10 days, strong winds blew their boat outside the course, leaving it alone with limited supplies.
After he did not return, the family of Castro alerted the Peruvian coast that was missing, but the authorities could not locate it. On Wednesday, an Ecuadorian patrol boat finally found Castro in critical condition about 1,094 kilometers from the coastAccording to the BBC.

Castro met with his brother in Paita in the north on Friday -a west of Peru, a city about 400 kilometers from the Ecuadorian border.
He said he survived drinking rainwater and consuming everything he could take from the ocean.
After his safe return, Castro told journalists that he did not want to die and that his family’s thoughts, including his mother, gave him strength.
« 95 days went by. I ate roosters, birds, the last I ate the turtles, « he said. « I have a two -month -old granddaughter. I took it. »
After approaching the press, Castro received medical treatment in Paita before being sent to Lima, the capital of Peru, where he met with his daughter at Jorge Chávez’s International Airport, who arrived with a bottle of Pisco, the National Drink of Peru.
His niece, Leyla Torres Napa, said that the family was hoping to celebrate Castro’s birthday, which was passing while at sea.
« The day of his birth was unique because everything he could eat (while in the sea) was a small cookie, so it is very important for us to celebrate because, for us, he has been reborn, » he said in the news.
