The TV series of the UK « Skina » was surprisingly successful both in the home country and abroad, so in 2011, MTV tried to bring this success in the US with its own adaptation. Almost directly copying the first season of the British version for character and Beat-Beat, only with a new place, the new « skins » had the potential to become a state sensation. The show even had the creator of the original Brian Elsley series, who helped to adapt him, and they threw a brand new group of relatives, hoping, perhaps, run a few careers in the spirit of his predecessor. (Seriously, the first season of « skins » can boast Daniel Kaluya, Kai Skadelorio, Hanna Murray, and Dev Patel.) Unfortunately, it was not the case, and the show was canceled only in one season – so what happened?

The US seems just not ready for something like « skins » that is pretty funny, given The success of the US adaptation of the same growth of « shameless », But the ratings were low, and the show turned out to be too expensive for MTV when parenting groups began to protest and pull out advertising. In the world of dreams, MTV would be able to really get lost with its soap drama for teenagers, but American pearls and attempts to recreate the original is almost accurately written in the early end.
Skins us were convicted almost from the beginning
Both versions of Skins follow a group of several problem teenagers in the last two years of high school, studying hard topics such as sexuality, pregnancy, drug use and abuse. The show can be difficult to watch, and its young heroes are experiencing all kinds of injuries, but in some ways it feels true to teens because teens in real life often do Use drugs, sex and party too much. Part of what made the original show feel so brilliant, was a young acting role predominantly unknown (including baby Dev Patel) because it suddenly feels more real when teenagers play teenagers, but it upset the television advice of the parents who wanted the federal investigation of the series because he thought it was « children’s pornography ». While the heroes are engaged in constant activity, and some actors were under the age of 18, it never is present for titulation to only show how teenagers actually live.

The advertisers pulled their commercials on the air at MTV during the shows of the show, including Taco Bell and General Motors, and only after one season with a very modest viewers did they decide to pull the plug. Time reviews point to the show, trying to clear itself for the American version, while coping everything else that is removed into certain episodes, felt like at best adaptation, so it may be for the better that MTV « skins » crashed and burned. Well, we will always have a UK version that took seven seasons and have Like « euphoria » but better.
