The U.S. secret service shot a man outside the White House at the beginning of Sunday after an « armed confrontation », the service said in a statement.
He had previously received a decrease in Local Police on a « suicide individual who can travel to Washington DC from Indiana, » he said.
His officers approached a man coinciding with this description, « who branded a firearm », adding that shootings were fired. The man is now in the hospital in an « unknown » state, he said.
President Donald Trump was not in the White House at that time, as he spent the weekend at his residence in Florida, Mar-Alago.
« As the officers approached, the individual marked a firearm and an armed confrontation took place, during which the shots were shot by our staff, » the statement said.
The incident is in Washington Metropolitan Police investigation, which is investigating all law shots in the District of Columbia.
