Jan Zangen – one of the most famous football players in Belgium, said that he retired from professional football at the end of the current season.
The 37-year-old defender who had a remarkable career, which spread about two decades and had good years in Tottenham, will soon hinder his shoes soon.
Thinking about his decision, Verongen shared his mindset to leave the game.
He said. « In recent weeks, it has become clear to me that they will be my last games. This is not an easy decision, but it’s true.
« I have noticed that it becomes more and more difficult for me to be physically prepared for courses and games and show me as a player I want to be.
« Not only to fans and my classrooms, but also to me. That’s why I will stop after this season. «

Vertonghen’s career has not been short of extraordinary. He started his professional journey with Ajax, making 220 meetings for Dutch giants.
His talent and guidance later took him to the Premier League, where he spent eight successful years at the Tottenham Hotel, collecting 315 matches.
Two seasonal buildings followed by Benfica Benfica club before he returned to Belgium in 2022 to join Anderlecht. Since then, he wore the captain’s arm for almost three seasons, playing 77 matches.
