The head of the United States’s military base in Greenland has been fired after a email was sent away from the critique of the Vice President JD Vance in Denmark.
The command of the US military’s space operations said that Colla Susannah Meyers had been withdrawn from his role in the PitFFIK space base due to a « loss of confidence in his ability to lead. »
Last month, Vance said that Denmark had not « done a good job » for Greenlanders and that it had not happened in security while visiting the Danish territory.
The alleged email, published by a military news site, said that the comments of the Vance staff were not « reflexive » at the base. A pentagon spokesman cited the article, saying that « damaging » United States leadership was not tolerated.
After Vance’s trip, on March 31, it is said that Colla Meyers wrote: « I do not presume that he understands current politics, but what I know is that the concerns of the American administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday do not reflect the Piufny space base. »

He seems to have confirmed that this was the reason for his shot, Pentagon’s head spokesman Sean Parnell, linked to the article Military.com in a publication on X, writing: « Actions (this) decreases the chain of command or to subvert the Agenda of the President (Donald) Trump will not be tolerated in the Department of Defense ».

The United States has maintained a security interest in Greenland as strategically important territory. He has had a military presence on the island since he occupied it after the occupation of Denmark by Nazi Germany during World War II.
« If Russia sent missiles to the United States, the shortest nuclear weapons route would be through the North Pole and Greenland, » said Marc Jacobsen, an associate professor at the Royal Danish Defense, he said in the BBC before.

Greenland, the largest island in the world, has been under Danish control for about 300 years.
Surveys show that the vast majority of Greenlanders want to become independent of Denmark, but do not want to be part of the United States.
Greenland has had the right to call an independence referendum since 2009, although in recent years some political parties have begun to push.
