The United States has raised a $ 10 million reward for information on the arrest of a significant Taliban leader, according to Sirajuddin Haqqani, a spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry.

The launch of George Glezmann, who was abducted while traveling as a tourist in Afghanistan in December 2022, marks the third time a North -American detainee has been released by the Taliban since January.

In a statement, the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, said that Glezmann’s release represented a « positive and constructive step. » He also thanked Qatar for his « instrumental » role in achieving the launch.

The Taliban have previously described the release of North -Americans as part of their overall effort of « standardization ».

The network is also accused of murdering the maximum Afghan officials and western rescue citizens, including the North -American Soldier Bowe Bergdahl, published in 2014.
