Aviation regulator diverts flights from Florida’s four airports to avoid falling waste.
The Spacex Starx ship has exploded shortly after takeoff in the second failure of this year’s launch in Elon Musk’s interplanetary exploration program.
But the Musk rocket company was able to successfully return its mammoth’s first stage to launch after Thursday flight, catching it in its mechanical « warmers » giants for the third time.
Spacex’s streaming showed the StarShip spacecraft, which sponged uncontrollably in the space minutes after the company’s launching site lift to Boca Chica, Texas.
« You can see that we have lost several engines and lost control of the vehicle’s attitude, » Spacex communications manager Dan Huot said during the streaming.
« Once you lose enough with these central engines, you lose control of the attitude, » Huot added.
« And so, we saw that the boat was starting to turn, and at that time we lost contact with the boat. »
The images published on social media showed that the burning waste fired on the southern sky of Florida and the Bahamas, while the remains of the craft re -introduced the Earth’s atmosphere.
The federal aviation administration briefly stopped flights to four Florida airports, including Miami International Airport, due to the fall of waste.
The aviation regulator said he had also launched a « mishap research » to « determine the main cause of the event and identify corrective actions to prevent it from happening again. »
The mixed result occurs after the seventh flight of Spacex in January ended with a half -flight rupture of the star nave, forcing the airlines to divert flights to avoid falling debris.
In a statement after Thursday’s launch, Spacex said that the space vehicle had « experienced a quick dismantling unscheduled » before the contact was lost.
« Our team immediately began coordinating with security officials to implement pre-plane contingency answers, » the company told X.
« We will review today’s flight test data to better understand (the cause) root. As always, success comes from what we learn, and today’s flight will offer additional lessons to improve Starship’s reliability. »
NASA has hired Spacex to develop its star ship to use it in its Artemis program, which aims to return astronauts to the moon this decade.
Musk, the richest man in the world, has said he hopes to use Starship to fulfill his long time to establish a permanent colony on Mars by 2050.
