South Korea Fire Fires kill at least two firefighters

At least two people died and hundreds evacuated their homes when the wildfires dropped to South Korea on Saturday.

Two firefighters were found dead in Sancheong County in the southeast of the country, the Yonhap news agency reported, citing local officials.

According to the Korean Forestry Service, it was reported that other fires were burned down throughout the country.

A national disaster was declared at 18:00 local time (09:00 GMT), which covers the provinces of Ulsan City and North and South Gyeongsang in the southeast.

More than 200 residents were ordered to leave their homes in eight villages due to fatal fire in Sancheong County, south of Gyeongsang province.

The acting president, Choi Sang-Mok, had requested that all efforts be made to extinguish the combustion by sunset, but the strong winds made it difficult to make efforts on the scene about 250 kilometers southeastern Seoul.

Otherwise, more than 400 residents were displaced due to a fire in the county of Uiseong, in the northern province of Gyeongsang.

The forestry service issued a serious warning of fires in 12 places, including Busan and the central city of Daejeon.
