The Nevada Interscholastic Activity Association (NIAA) voted on Tuesday to adopt a new gender eligibility policy that prohibits trans athletes from girls sports. Now, only biological women can compete in the status of girls in the state.
The Deputy Governor of Nevada, Stavros, Anthony, praised the decision in a statement.
« I entrust NIAA for taking this important and brave step, » said Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony. « Today’s vote sends a clear message: Nevada values and protects the opportunities for female athletes. Girls deserve a level playing field and this action helps to compete, grow and succeed without having to commit safety or equity. »
The change marks a reversal of the previous state policy that allowed trans athletes to compete in sports sports sports, which involved multiple controversial incidents that occur in recent years.

The State Constitution was reviewed in 2022, when Democratic legislators voted for the modification of equal rights, which added gender identity to its list of protected diversity classifications under state law.
The law provoked a nationally advertising feud between the University of Nevada, Reno and his women’s volleyball players in October.
The players approached private university administrators to express their desire to lose a match against the State University of San Jose, who formed a trans athlete. But university did not honor this request and instead published a statement Insisting that he would play the game. Nevada also insisted that his players could jump the contest without facing the discipline.

The team finally lost the day before the game could play, due to not having enough players. However, the university said he had debates with players about possible « legal issues » that would arise if the game was not played.
« The university administrators met with the Nevada volleyball team and discussed the scenarios of what could happen if they chose not to play. One of the scenarios discussed revolved around possible legal issues to violate the Nevada Constitution, » read a statement that was provided exclusively at Fox News Digital by the University of Nevada, Reno.
The dispute between the players was climbed in a national controversy that even gained main political attention during the weeks before the November election.
Meanwhile, at a youth level, a 13-year-old girl from the snowfall, Ava Chávez, explained an experience of having to face a trans athlete in a letter to the state legislators last week.
