President of the United States Donald Trump has accepted an invitation to attend an official visit with King Charles IIIwho was given in a letter by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer.
Traditionally, the second-term American presidents who have already paid an official state-trump visit formally met with Queen Elizabeth II in 2019-are asked for tea or lunch with the monarch In the castle of Windsor.
Trump received the second « historic » invitation on Thursday during a meeting at the White House with Starmer, making it the only political leader elected in recent times that he was handed over to two by the British monarchy.
« This is really special, this has never happened before, this has no precedents, » Starmer told the President.
Upon receiving the invitation, Trump retained it to the Oval Office cameras.

In it, the king asked to meet with the President of the Dumfries House, a palatial estate in Scotland or Balmor, one of the houses in the royal family, and suggested the couple’s review plans for a more extravagant visit.

The letter was read in part: « I can only say that it would be … the pleasure to expand this invitation once again, in the hope that … some stage will visit Turnberry and a detour to a relatively close neighbor, maybe it does not cause too much discomfort. An alternative may be that you visit Balmoral. »
« Much apart from this presentation of an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest, it would also offer a valuable opportunity to plan a historical visit of the second state to the United Kingdom, » the letter continued.
« In doing it, working together, I know that we will improve the special relationship between our two countries that we are so proud of, » he concluded.
Starmer said that the invitation « symbolizes the strength of the relationship » between the United Kingdom and the United States, before asking Trump if he would accept the « very special » offer of the king.
« The answer is yes, » the president responded.
The hand signed correspondence comes just over a month after the king sent Trump a written greeting before his inauguration.
The king invites political, monarchs and presidents abroad on behalf of the Foreign Affairs Office and with the permission of the Government.
