How does the StarGate device work

In 1994, Roland Emerich gave us an autonomous sci-fantastic adventure, rich in a lost civilization throughout the galaxy and antagonist, which masked as God. Although Plans on the Star Gate trilogy unfortunately failedThe film gave rise to many years of franchise favorite television shows and comics. Among these records, « StarGate SG-1 » and « StarGate Atlantis » show most of the heavy lifting, expanding the basic knowledge in Emerich’s movie significantly. Although all the « Stargate » stories are poorly connected, the only common noun that connects them together is a title star, a device that allows you to instantly move between two distant galaxies. But what exactly is a star brother and how it works?

In Emerich’s movie, the Stargate expedition team is collected years after Kapston (also known as the stone cover) was expressed in Giza, Egypt in 1928. While the cap is found engraved with hieroglyphics, archaeologists also find a massive metal ring beneath it and stomping it and attitudes towards artifact. The mystery surrounding these subjects is decided as soon as Dr. Daniel Jackson (James Speaker) will come on board, finding out that the ring and Kapston form a worm hole as soon as they are called. Being a brilliant linguist and archaeologist, Jackson decides the puzzle and helps to create the first functional star gate that transports the expedition to the Desert Planet Abidos.

Despite the fact that in 1994 the sci-fi adventure did not reveal too much about this device, its « StarGate SG-1 » series introduces it with enough department and prevents it from becoming MacGuffin. Because « Stargate » can be very confused, let’s look at the simple origin of the device, as well as the basic characteristics that have determined it over the years.

Who built the Stargate device and what is its purpose?

You may have heard the term « Einstein Rusen Bridge » was thrown into the sci-fi media, and Stargate can be understood as a variation of this. Saying the simplest plan, the Einstein Bridge is a worm (if you want) that allows you to move between A and B points, which are located far enough to be at different points in space. « SG-1 » gives us the necessary context, showing that these stars were made ancient, which are races of ascending creatures with close-to-the-life knowledge about life, galaxy and what lies outside. The portals themselves were improved over time by other races, including Tollan and Ori, which used them for their convenience.

« SG-1 » also explains why First of all, the StarGate team was created: It was a front line of defense against invading a vicious alien species known as Goaauld. Expedition teams (such as SG-1 and Atlantis teams) were sent through the stars to help gather exploration about other types that could help people fight Goa’auld and protect the land. In 6 season, SG-1 Daniel Jackson (played by Michael Shanks) learns about the buried truth about the ancient, their role in the creation of the star and their underwater city of Atlantis. These discoveries completely change the history of the boundless galaxy, cutting out space for deeper knowledge that distinguish different prototypes of the Stargate device. For example, The « Universe StarGate » events indicate the third generation Stargates Which have a limited range and function quite differently than the traditional portals we know.

Remember the hieroglyphs on the caps, which should be calibrated to activate the star gate? Well, the combination of these characters forms unique addresses, which are essentially coordinates with different points throughout the universe. In most cases, having typed these characters in the correct order, allows the expedition team to travel through the gate. With that in mind, let’s see how these devices work.

How stars work in an extended franchise universe

Without getting too much in the winding science of all this, let’s find out how the StarGate device promotes the jump from point A in B. If you look more closely at these gates, you will notice the blue, pouring the whirlwind of the energy that nourishes the portal at both ends. This shimmering energy acts as fuel necessary to maintain the gate and send people, that is, a lower energy level can lead to complications (such as people who are stuck somewhere in the galaxy, or worse, breakup). The above -mentioned glyphs help to accurately determine the exact coordinates, fixing in the purpose (both known and unknown), which the assigned team can travel directly. Of course, the scientific aspect of this process is much more difficult, but the best way to understand it is to divide the journey into three parts: demotraization, transmission and reintegration.

When a person or object goes through the gate, it should be demotraized or broken into a « hyper space buffer », which can easily travel from A to B. The journey itself is transfer, and as long as the person/object comes through the arrival portal, reintegration occurs. Reintegration guarantees that all states of matter will be returned to the original form, stabilizing anything that can be burned during the planting process. Any time jumping or space-time movement is obliged to change you, so it often creates alternative terms or leads to death that affect these branched realities (this happened in the « SG-1 » several times).

Is this kind (potentially) that changes the time that changes time in real life, even at a purely theoretical level? Mika McKinan, official franchise science consultant says it is possibleWith some restrictions, of course. We may not live in the boundless fictional world « StarGate », where people bless enhanced genes that can easily adapt to such travel methods, but we can do. Given this, these portals in « Stargate » are used as often as a taxi or catching the train, so care is recommended!
