A young woman who says she was raped and threatened by the NFL retired player Shannon Sharpe during a « rock consensual relationship » filed a civil lawsuit against him, seeking $ 50 million in damage.
Lawyers filed the demand on Sunday in Clark County, Nevada, for a woman in court as Jane Doe. Demand also accuses Sharpe of using physical strength on her and inflicting emotional distress.
The woman first met Sharpe in a Los Angeles gym in 2023 when she was 20 years old and followed a relationship almost two years old, according to court documents. Sharpe, 56, is accused of violating women in October 2024 and again in January, according to court documents.
Sharpe on Monday published a statement from his lawyer on X saying that the relationship was agreed and called the demand a « cynical and cynical attempt to shake » Sharpe for millions of dollars.
« It is full of mistakes, distortions and misconceptions, and will not be successful, » said Lanny J. Davis in the statement published by Sharpe.
Sharpe is accused of being more and more verbally abusive, controlling and violent over time, once threatened to kill -and record his sexual encounters without consent, according to the complaint.
« Sharpe flew in anger’s form when the plaintiff pointed his unfaithfulness to his relationship or called him about his other people’s activities, » the lawsuit said. « Sharpe even found out how to enter the Doe apartment complex without his permission. »
Sharpe was a four -time tight end that he played on two Super Bowl champions with Denver and another with Baltimore for 14 seasons from 1990 to 2003. He was voted at the Fame Hall in 2011.
Sharpe retired as a leader of all NFL times between the ends adjusted in the receptions (815), the gardens they received (10,060) and Touchdowns (62). Since then these records have been broken.
Sharpe has been a basic element on television and social media since his retirement. He left the FS1 sports debate program « indisputable » in 2023 and joined Espn shortly after.
