A student at Columbia Korea University, a U.S. legal resident and has participated in Pro-Palestinian protests, on Monday sued the administration of United States President Donald Trump, to avoid his deportation, demonstrated a judicial presentation.
Yuseo Chung, 21, has lived in the United States since his seven years, but his legal team was informed two weeks ago that his legal permanent state of resident was revoked, according to a court presentation in the United States District Court in the southern New York district.
The Trump administration says that its North -American presence hinders its foreign policy agenda, according to demand. Chung has not yet been arrested. Immigration agents have made multiple visits to their residences looking for it.
Actions against Chung « are part of a greater pattern of U.S. government attempt repression of constitutionally protested protest activity and other forms of speech, » said Monday’s demand.
« The repression of the Government has focused specifically on university students who speak in solidarity with the Palestinians and who are critical of the Israeli government’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza. »
A spokeswoman for the United States National Security Department (DHS) claimed that Chung has been engaged in conduct, including when she was arrested by police during a protest at Barnard College, which DHS called « Pro-Hamas ».
DHS spokeswoman did not deepen the particularities of this behavior in question, but said he was « sought by elimination procedures under immigration laws » and will have the opportunity to submit his case to an immigration judge.
Trump has committed to deporting foreign pro-palestinian protesters and accused them of supporting the Hamas militant group, proposing obstacles to United States foreign policy, and anti-Semites.
Protesters, including some Jewish groups, say that the administration mistakenly relying their criticisms of Israel and their support for Palestinian rights with anti -Semitism and Hamas support. Human rights proponents have condemned government movements.
