Saskatchewan breweries are preparing the possible impacts of the United States President Donald Trump25 percent tariff On Canadian steel and aluminum, which will take effect on March 12.

« We are currently buying, causing some of our cans in the United States, so it is very worrying, » said Heise, who added that some of his suppliers are causing their Canadian inventories.
He says that if the rates come into force, his company may have to look at alternative suppliers, but it is not a perspective that he expects.
« In the past, when there were previously aluminum rates, we actually started buying our aluminum cans directly outside Mexico, as well as China finally after there were also pressure on Mexican supplies. »
Brewing District Marketing Coordinator Hayden McPherson says that his brewery is already changing suppliers.

« We are finding much more Canadian suppliers that give us much better rates, especially when there are things.
Heise says he would like to see more solutions made in Canadians, including more domestic production of aluminum products.
« We should turn our raw materials into value-added products here nationally, instead of sending them to another place to turn them into cans or anything else, » he said, although he acknowledged that there is probably no « quick solution » that governments can use to provide instant relief from the rates.
Meanwhile, MCPHerson would like to make an easier trade between provinces to encourage consumers to consider the products made in Canadians.
