Alex Ovecchkin of Capital moves in 3 goals to break the record of Wayne Gretzky


Washington Capitals Star Alex Ovechkin moved to three goals of breaking the brand of Wayne Gretzky, while scoring his 892nd goal against Carolina hurricanes on Wednesday night.

Was the lone goal of capitals in their 5-1 loss the hurricanes. He almost scored two in the game, but goalkeeper Frederik Andersen was stopped at the timely range. He ended up beating Andersen on a play of 5 to 3 later in the second.

« We have a good opportunity in the second, first change a break, » said Ovechkin. « And in this game, if you have an opportunity, you have to use it and I think all the goalkeepers play well tonight. »

Washington and Carolina are the two most important teams in the metropolitan division at the Eastern Conference. The capitals have 105 points and the hurricanes have 96.

« The GR8 Chase » is still activated, at least for seven more games. Ovecchkin could close the record At the end of the weekend with a game against Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night and then a road game against New York Islands on Sunday.

Gretzky’s 894 career goals were thought to be unbeatable, but Ovechkin is expected to challenge the odds.
